- WebAssign is the complete teaching tool for Logic Design. This flexible and fully customizable platform puts powerful tools in your hands. Deploy assignments, instantly assess individual student and class performance, and help your students master the course concepts. With WebAssign's powerful digital platform and Fundamentals of Logic Design's specific content, you can tailor your course with a wide range of assignment settings, add your own questions and content, and access student and course analytics and communication tools.
- THIS EDITION COVERS ALTERNATIVE IMPLEMENTATIONS OF MULTIPLEXERS. The authors introduce alternative implementations of multiplexers using different types of gates, as well as how to use smaller multiplexers to implement larger ones.
- EXCEPTIONAL BALANCE OF THEORY AND APPLICATION CLEARLY INTRODUCES CONCEPTS AND HOW THEY ARE APPLIED. Students gain a strong understanding of the key concepts while also examining how to apply these fundamentals to actual problems. These accomplished authors are recognized for their ability to present the basic theory of switching circuits, as well as provide clarity on how to apply it.
- SIMULATIONS AND LABORATORY EXERCISES PROVIDE HANDS-ON PRACTICE. Carefully crafted simulations and lab experiences work with specially designed LogicAid™ and SimuAid™ design and simulation software to provide your students with important opportunities to design logic circuits and then test their operations.
- BUILT-IN SELF STUDY GUIDES HELP PREPARE STUDENTS FOR THE WORK TO COME. The Study Guides at the beginning of each chapter contain reading assignments with corresponding study questions that ensure students absorb and comprehend the principles they have read.
- PORTIONS OF THIS EDITION'S PRESENTATION OF NEGATIVE NUMBERS CAN BE INCLUDED OR OMITTED, DEPENDING ON STUDENT NEEDS. The authors have skillfully organized this edition's representation of negative numbers to allow you to easily omit discussions on one's complement and sign magnitude, if desired.
- COMPLETE COVERAGE ADDRESSES GATED SR LATCHES. This edition's presentation of gated SR latches emphasizes input change restrictions and how this relates to hazards. The authors have also integrated alternative implementations of gated latches, such as the Earle latch.
- THE BOOK INTRODUCES NAND GATES AND NOR GATES EARLY SO STUDENTS BECOME FAMILIAR IN WORKING WITH THEM. Students focus on these digital logic gates as early as Chapter 7.
- DISCUSSION CLEARLY DISTINGUISHES BETWEEN SWITCHING ALGEBRA AND BOOLEAN ALGEBRA. After reviewing this coverage, students will understand the distinction between the two and how to use these tools most effectively to represent the behavior of gate networks.
- CD ACCOMPANYING THE BOOK PROVIDES USEFUL SOFTWARE FOR COMPLETING LABS. Your students can use several software programs provided with this edition to complete valuable hands-on lab exercises. Digital tools include LogicAid™, SimUaid™ simulator, and DirectVHDL™ software.
- OPTIONAL VERILOG SUPPLEMENT PROVIDES FLEXIBILITY IN YOUR PRESENTATION. You have the option of using this valuable online supplement to introduce Verilog hardware descriptive language to your students.
- Contains built-in Self Study Guide at the beginning of each chapter containing reading assignments and study questions which prepare students to make the most of their reading.
- Balances the basic theory of switching circuits and how to apply it providing students with a clear presentation of the key concepts and how to apply them to problems.
- Includes simulation or laboratory exercises along with specially designed LogicAid and SimuAid design and simulation software that provides opportunities to design a logic circuit and then test its operation.
